As a Nutrition and Sustainability Engagement Lead , Senior Manager, based in Battle Creek, MI., you will provide strategic direction and leadership for our external engagement, strategic partners and reporting process in support of our Feeding Happiness sustainable business strategy. You will work collaboratively across the organization identifying opportunities to proactively share our story and key messages supporting the broader business priorities, ultimately showing how WK Kellogg Co makes doing good, good for business.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

This role reports directly into the Chief Wellbeing and Sustainable Business Officer, with no direct reports. This individual will work cross-functionally as a peer to the broader Wellbeing, Regulatory and Consumer Affairs Team. Additionally, this role will have a large external engagement presence representing WK Kellogg Co , and developing and maintaining professional relationships with consultants, professional organizations, academics, and government agencies.

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Working collaboratively with corporate communications and the broader organization, this individual will be responsible for managing our corporate responsibility reporting process, content development and data collection.

  • Developing influencer strategies and approach on wellbeing and sustainability activations and communications, including supporting and organizing WIC and School Nutrition events and initiatives.

  • Serving as a wellbeing resource in the development of messaging and content for the digital/social community managers, consumer affairs, as well as corporate communications.

  • Representing Kellogg externally, to share the WK Kellogg Co Feeding Happiness® Wellbeing and Sustainable Business strategy and identifying new potential partnerships and programs.

  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with consultants, professional organizations, academics, and government agencies.

  • Developing new materials and content, as well as managing existing materials and website content.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, Environmental Sustainability, or related field.

  • 5-10 years’ experience in nutrition communications and marketing business environment, preferably in large food or beverage industry or agency.

  • Demonstrated experience identifying consumer driven insights, trends, and opportunities, and connecting with scientific or regulatory knowledge to develop simple, accurate, and supportable consumer messaging.

  • Must have knowledge, experience and proven expertise on advertising, media and consumer communications, and labeling regulations in the US.

  • Expert problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

  • High level of ethics, assertiveness, leadership, and diplomacy that will promote good relations with all levels of management and disciplines. Good interpersonal skills are essential. The individual must be able to function effectively as a planner, mediator, coordinator, communicator, and expert.

  • Project management experience and/or trade show management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, social media platforms and with computers in general.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 5-10 years’ experience with food or related industry labeling as per federal regulations [FDA, or USDA], formulation, and ingredient specifications.

  • Registered Dietitian and/or master’s degree preferred in a Sustainability and/or Human Nutrition-related field (will consider allied health sciences, such as public health) or an MBA in marketing or communications combined with a nutrition or environmental-related undergraduate degree.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work overtime as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements.

    Must be able to use effective verbal and written communication skills on a daily basis.

    Must have the ability to work in conditions that include multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, extended work schedules, and specific time constraints.

    Ability to lead, align, manage, resolve conflict, and work in an ever-changing environment.
